PPS 006W Abbie White Freshwater  Pearl 14K Gold Filled Bracelet.

The pearl, a lunar symbol representing both the moon and woman, has been a symbol of wisdom, purity and perfection for millennia.

The Latin word for pearl, “unique,” aptly describes the fact that no two pearls are identical.

Freshwater Pearls are cultivated within a mussel shell called Hyriopsis Schlegeli.

A pearl forms when a nucleus, a small piece of the mussel’s tissue known as “mantle material,” is implanted.  The mollusc remains unharmed during this process and secretes the pearl with nacre (pearl lustre) over a period of 7-8 years.  One shell can produce up to 20 pearls.

A freshwater pearl is entirely composed of pearl material, primarily calcium carbonate and conchiolin.  The June birthstone is Pearl, along with Alexandrite and moonstone.

While white is the most renowned pearl colour, they naturally occur in nearly every shade imaginable.  These colours range from white to golden, chocolate, pink, lavender and blue. Black freshwater pearls are not naturally occurring, a pearl is treated with silver nitrate to transform white and pink pearls into a deep black. This stain is absorbed by the porous layers of the pearl.

Measure Your Wrist Accurately

Measuring your wrist is the first and most critical step in finding the perfect bracelet size. It’s crucial to measure accurately to ensure your bracelet fits comfortably.

  • To measure your wrist, you'll need a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string and a ruler.

  • Wrap the measuring tape or string around your wrist, just above the wrist bone. If you're using a string, mark the point where it overlaps.

  • Lay the measuring tape or string flat and use the ruler to measure the length in centimetres.

Measure your wrist size

Step 1: Wrap the tape measure just above the wrist bone so that it fits snugly without feeling too tight or too loose.

Step 2: Mark where the tape measure overlaps. This is the exact circumference of your wrist.

Note: You can substitute the measuring tape with a string or ribbon and use a straight ruler to measure the length from the point of overlap to the end.

If it is not done properly, then the size will be inaccurate and I will make a bangle based on the loose size, which always has led to returns being too big.

Just to let you know, most people make the tape loose because they worry that I will make a “tight bangle”. This is not the case.
